We did not use the included hardware, just the lighting fixture's hardware so it was very easy to install. A huge improvement over the cheap hardware store medallion. Save your money, or better yet, buy a two piece 18" medallion from Westinghouse at half the price for a comparable size medallion from Focal Point.
