The detail is exquisite. Be aware that the 18" diameter is measured from the tips of the 4 points (that stick out) - the rest of the medallion is about 1.5" smaller, so the actual diameter for the circle is 16.5"This item is very light. The mounting hardware and system included with this is very easy to install. It's much better than the 16" medalion I bought from Home Depot that had absolutely nothing with it for the installation. This medalion comes even with 2 types of screws. It is some sort of composite material like a lot of trim is these days. Definitely a statement. If you go to a home improvement store you will not find anything like this, the selection is limited and the designs more generic. This medallion looks as good in person as it does online.
